Meet the teachers

Ms. Karolynn, CDA
Child Development Specialist

4-5-year-old teacher
I am Ms. Karolynn, owner and 4-5-year-old teacher at It’s A Good Day Preschool!  I enjoy basketball, singing, piano, flute, camping, watching movies, pedicures, swimming, and, most importantly, being with my wonderful husband, darling 5 kids (ages 30, 28, 17, 18, and 14), son-in-law, my adorable grandson (age 5) and my beautiful granddaughter (age 2).  My love for children started as a child myself.  Growing up, my Mother had a daycare in her home, and I couldn’t wait to come home from school to play with the little kids.  This is still true today.  I have always believed that children are the most important people in the world, and they should never be ignored.  That is why you will always see me at the kids' table at parties.  Raising a child with special needs has given me a lot of experience in how to love and be patient.  I take several classes a year on how to teach children and reinforce positive behavior.
I have spent many years in the classroom with my children and in therapy sessions, from teaching them how to hold a pencil to encouraging children to eat new things.  One of my favorite activities is to get down on the floor and play with them during free time.  I just love kids and the cute things they say.  I look forward to loving your children and watching them grow and learn.  Ms. Karolynn is going on her 9th year teaching in the preschool setting, is current on CPR/First Aid, food handlers permit, Tooele County preschool permit, Tooele county business license, and holds a state of Utah child care license and passed a current background check. Ms. Karolynn currently has a Child  Development Associate (CDA)  The CDA  is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education.  She is also certified in the following: Indoor and outdoor safety, dual language learning, promoting empathy and other prosocial behaviors, gender bias, and stereotypes, bullying in the preschool environment, creating a multicultural environment, inclusion, and children with special needs, parent communication, nutrition and fitness, learning centers, curriculum, developmental domains, recognizing infectious disease, signs of child abuse and the impact it has on children, how children learn, positive guidance, oral health and assessing young children.  She is currently enrolled in the Childcare Education Institute, and attends the yearly Utah Early Childhood Conference, furthering her early child development education.

Mrs. Melissa
3-4-year-old teacher
4-5-Year-Old 2-day class
Hello, my name is Mrs. Melissa, and I am thrilled to be teaching at It's A Good Day Preschool. Now that my kids are a little older, I am so excited to start with Miss Karolynn and have a chance to teach preschool again. My husband and I have 4 kids, ages 6,7,11 and 13. Raising them and learning how to best be a good mom for their individual needs and personalities has been my pride and joy for the last 13 years. I love music (especially singing) camping with my family, playing board games, and doing triathlons. I especially enjoy working with preschool-aged kids. I love that they are so eager to learn and try new things. They are quick to love and forgive and share their joy with everyone around them. It's so rewarding to help them figure out the things they are struggling with and seeing their excitement over the things they accomplish. I am grateful for the chance to be part of the fun as we learn and discover together.  Mrs. Melissa is in her 5th year teaching at It's A Good Day Preschool and is CPR/First Aid certified and attends the yearly Utah Early Childhood Conference, furthering her early child development education.

I am Ms. Janika, teacher, substitute, and aide for It's a Good Day Preschool! This summer I will be hosting It's A Good Day Preschool's very first Summer Day Camps. My love for teaching began while lifeguarding where I taught swimming lessons to children. Throughout my years at It's a Good Day Preschool, I have learned that children can teach us just as many lessons as we teach them! My certifications include, Emergency Medical Responder, Blood-borne Pathogens Training, Lifeguarding with CPR/AED, and First Aid. I also hold a Utah Food Handler's permit and have completed the Utah Child Care training. I attend the yearly Utah Early Childhood Conference to further my education.

Did you know that Ms. Karolynn attended training by the famous Dr. Jean?  Here she is with Dr. Jean and her preschool teacher friends.
